Hometown Engineering, LLC (“Hometown Engineering,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects the privacy of visitors to hometownengineering.com (the “Site”) and clients who engage our civil engineering services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
This policy is written in plain English on purpose. If anything below is unclear, contact us at dave@hometownengineering.com.
Who We Are
Hometown Engineering, LLC is a Kansas-registered limited liability company providing civil engineering services in Kansas and Missouri. We are licensed under Kansas Engineering Certificate of Authority E-3749 and Missouri Engineering Certificate of Authority E-2026003262. Our office is located at 15720 S Keeler St #100, Olathe, KS 66062.
The principal engineer and sole data controller for the firm is Dave Brucker, P.E.
Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways: information you give us directly, and information collected automatically when you use the Site.
Information You Provide
When you submit our intake form or contact us by phone or email, we collect:
- Your name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Company or property-management firm name, if applicable
- Site address for the project
- City deadline date, if applicable
- Project description
- Files you upload, including city letters, site photos, and any supporting documentation
- Any other information you choose to share in correspondence
When you pay for a service, payment information is collected and processed by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not see or store your full credit card number, CVV, or bank account number. Stripe handles all card and payment data directly. We receive only a confirmation that payment was made, the amount, the date, and the last four digits of the card or other limited transaction metadata for our records.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect limited technical information including:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Device type
- Pages viewed and time spent on each page
- Referring URL (the site you came from, if any)
- General geographic location inferred from IP address (city or region level, not precise location)
This information is collected through Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console (the “Site Kit” integration). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies. See the “Cookies” section below.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Our services are not directed at children.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Review your project intake submission and decide whether to accept the engagement
- Communicate with you about your project, including scheduling and deliverables
- Process payment for accepted projects
- Perform the engineering work you have engaged us to do, including site visits, inspections, sealed reports, and submittals to municipal authorities
- Maintain records required by our professional licensure and the Kansas Board of Technical Professions and Missouri Board of Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Surveyors and Professional Landscape Architects
- Respond to your questions and follow up on past engagements
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities
- Improve the Site and our services
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising purposes. We do not use it for purposes unrelated to providing engineering services and operating this Site.
Sharing Your Information
We share your information only with the parties needed to deliver the services you engage us for, or as required by law.
Service providers we use:
- Stripe processes payment information on our behalf. See Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
- Google provides analytics, search console, and email infrastructure. See Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Nexcess hosts the Site infrastructure.
- Elementor provides the intake form software, which stores form submissions on our hosted database.
Municipal authorities and government agencies:
When you engage us for stormwater detention basin recertification, special use permits, code violation compliance, or similar work that requires submittal to a city, county, or state agency, your project information and the sealed engineering deliverables will be submitted to that authority as part of the work. You should expect that the authority will treat that submittal under its own public records laws.
Other engineers and contractors:
If your project requires coordination with another licensed professional (an architect, surveyor, or affiliated contractor such as Hometown Lawn for basin repair work), we may share project information with that party only as necessary to complete the engagement. We tell you when this happens.
Required by law:
We will disclose information if required by court order, subpoena, regulatory inquiry, or other valid legal process.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies, primarily through Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the Site. We do not currently display a cookie consent banner. You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from using the Site or submitting our intake form.
We may add a cookie consent banner in the future. If we do, you will be presented with a clear choice when you visit.
We do not use cookies for advertising or to build cross-site profiles of you. We do not participate in any advertising networks.
Data Retention
We retain materials you provide to us — including intake submissions, uploaded documents (city letters, photos, supporting files), and project files — as part of our records. We do not commit to a specific deletion schedule for inbound materials. If you send us a document, you should assume we will keep it.
Engineering deliverables we produce (sealed reports, location diagrams, photos taken during inspection, and other final work product) are transferred to you at the completion of your project, after final payment. You are responsible for maintaining your own copy of those deliverables going forward. We do not act as a long-term archive for completed project work.
Payment records are retained as required by tax and accounting law.
Analytics data is retained per Google’s default retention settings.
You may request deletion of your information at any time. See “Your Rights” below.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Request deletion of your information
- Opt out of email correspondence at any time
- Know how we use your information (this policy is that disclosure)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at dave@hometownengineering.com.
We will respond to deletion requests in good faith, but materials that have become part of our project records, materials you transmitted to us as part of a transaction you initiated, or records we are required to keep under tax, accounting, or professional licensure obligations are not subject to deletion. We will tell you which category applies if we decline to delete something.
California Residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) give you additional rights:
- The right to know what categories of personal information we collect, where we got it, why we use it, and who we share it with
- The right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to the exemptions listed in this policy and applicable law (including the exemption for personal information necessary to maintain records of a transaction the consumer initiated)
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising (we do not sell or share for these purposes; this right does not apply because we do not engage in those practices)
- The right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at dave@hometownengineering.com. We will respond within 45 days.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. The Site is served over HTTPS. Payment data is processed by Stripe under PCI-DSS standards. We do not store full payment card numbers, bank account numbers, or CVVs on our systems.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored on the Site.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the Site for at least 30 days.
